The Magnet Helicopters will try to pull Mega Man to his doom. Try to shoot the lower Helicopters before they fly overhead.
If you're using the Mega Jumping Game Genie code (YEUKOTGA), you can jump out of the way when Proto Man comes too close.
Try to shoot the blue missiles that the Blue Missile Springer launches as soon after they launch as you can. The missiles can become very annoying if you don't get rid of them right away.
Hold onto the ladder and let the Walking Eyes walk to the right of the screen, then jump down to the left avoiding the Walking Eyes.
If you hang onto the ladder you can jump over and get some Small Energy Pellets.

Skip these power-ups. Unless you're skilled in defeating Mini Gamma, you'll most likely end up with less energy after the second meeting with him (which you'll be forced to do if you get them).
The Mini Gamma shoots three pellets to both the right and the left, he also shoots two (indirectly) at Mega Man. If you time it properly you may pass here unscathed.

If you've already defeated Spark Man or Shadow Man, you can smoke Magnet Man with only four hits.
When Magnet Man turns on his magnet slide to the opposite side of the screen. If you're using the Mega Jumping Game Genie code (YEUKOTGA), you can jump over top of Magnet Man, forcing him to turn off his magnet.
Hide under Magnet Man when he shoots his Magnet Missiles, they won't be able to reach you there. Be sure to run to the closest wall after the third shot so he doesn't land on you.
As Magnet Man jumps from one side to the other, time a shot so he'll land on it.
Zap! Perfect timing! (heh).
When you defeat Magnet Man, you'll gain the use of his Magnet Missile.
